D.A. will review deadly pedestrian accident, no charges filed yet

The district attorney’s office has been handed the case of a teenager who died as a result of the injuries she suffered when she was run over on the 8600 block of Alameda May 20, 2016.

The D.A. will review the case to determine whether there is enough evidence to file charges against the driver.

15-year-old Cynthia Meza was crossing the street when Melissa Rios Perez, the driver of a 2012 Buick Enclave, allegedy ran her over, police said.

Investigators say Meza and a 15-year-old boy were using the crosswalk at the time. The boy was also injured but is expected to survive.

Rios Perez allegedly failed to yield the right of way at the crosswalk, police said.
