Father’s Day will mark a grim anniversary for Las Cruces Family

This Father’s Day will mark the grim one year anniversary of the day Janet Castrejon vanished while on a family camping trip in Arizona.

The Castrejon’s, who live in Las Cruces, were staying at Rustler Park the day of her disappearance.

Her family says Janet was taking a short walk from the restroom back to the family’s campsite. She never returned.

The 44-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury at the age of 18. Her father says she has a difficult time remembering things and relies heavily on her parents.

“Its difficult living with out her,” Janet’s father, Eduardo Castrejon, told ABC-7 in an interview last year.

One month after her disappearance, the family told ABC-7 they continued to search the campsite almost every weekend.

“Theres a lot of people that don’t know Janet that have never met her but they have been sympathizers,” Castrejon said.

Her family says they’re convinced Janet was abducted. Unfortunately, they say, any leads of her whereabouts have come up short.

ABC-7’s Jamie Warren speaks with the family, one year after her disappearance. She will have a full report on ABC-7 at 5 and 6.

The family asks if anyone has seen Janet Castrejon, possibly given her a ride, or has any information about her whereabouts to call 911 or the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office at (520) 432-9500.
