Cardwell Collaborative a “milestone” for El Paso

The Medical Center of the Americas Foundation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 60,000 square foot Cardwell Collaborative, which is being billed as a huge milestone for El Paso’s health care community.

The new building is located near I-10 East and Chelsea. According to our news partners at the El Paso Inc., this is the Sun City’s first “biomedical technology incubator.”

“We have set the stage for a prosperous economic future,” said Emma Schwartz, president of Medical Center of the Americas.

The new campus will allow researchers, students and outside companies to work together to advance healthcare through biomedical innovations.

The three story building is named after Jack Cardwell, a local businessman. “I feel good about it. I think it’s good for the city,” Cardwell said during Friday’s ceremony.

The Medical Center of the Americas Campus is home to the University Medical Center of El Paso, El Paso Children’s Hospital, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, among others.
