Chihuahuas beat Salt Lake in series opener Tuesday night
EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Chihuahuas hit three home runs in their 11-6 win over the Salt Lake Bees Tuesday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas are now 4-1 against the Bees in 2016.
Austin Hedges went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and four RBIs. It was the third consecutive multi-hit game for Hedges and his second home run in his last three contests. The only previous grand slam hit by the Chihuahuas came off the bat of Ryan Schimpf in Omaha on Memorial Day.
Jabari Blash went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and also has two homers in his last three games. Hunter Renfroe’s 16th home run of the year carried out of the park in the third inning, placing him one behind Reno’s Peter O’Brien for the Pacific Coast League lead in homers.
Eight of the nine Chihuahuas starting players had at least one hit in the win. The Chihuahuas advanced to 23-14 at home this season, the second best home record in the PCL, trailing only Tacoma.
