El Paso selected to host the 2018 Green Beret Conference

El Paso has been selected to host the 2018 Green Beret Conference, the Special Forces Association (SFA) announced Tuesday.
The international conference will be held in June 2018.

El Paso was chosen to host the annual gathering of the Green Berets after a presentation by Chapter IX president Pete Peral in Jacksonville, Florida.

“We expect between 1,500 and 2,000 active-duty and retired Green Berets, along with their families, to join Chapter IX in El Paso during the middle of June 2018, for a variety of activities that only El Paso can provide,” Peral said in a statement after the announcement. “We had considered the possibility of competing for the conference for several years and concluded this winter that this was our time. Catherine Stevens and Visit El Paso assisted us with our presentation.”

Chapter IX member Brian Kanof headed up a research committee that spent the last year exploring the feasibility of hosting the conference. Kanof is now the conference chairman.
In the next few months, an anchor hotel and numerous local venues will be selected to host the week-long conference.

The SFA holds the conference at a different location every year. The 2017 conference will be in Fayetteville, North Carolina near Fort Bragg, home of the Special Forces.
