Mayor Leeser: “I’m back and ready to work”
Mayor Oscar Leeser said he is back and ready to work during a news conference Thursday. The mayor took some time off back in May citing health concerns.
The mayor touted the success of the city’s “Familiarization Tours,” which invite business owners to our community with the hope they will relocate to our city.
Leeser said more than 4,000 jobs have been created during his tenure in office and mentioned the “record low” unemployment rate in the Sun City.
El Paso’s mayor said his business experience helps when he hosts business owners in our city. “I started with a small business and it’s something I can talk to them about, they know who I am and they know what I’ve done,” Leeser said. “To be able to sell our city, it’s unbelievably exciting.”
Leeser said he is still recovering after taking time off to address health concerns. He has lost more than 30 pounds, but feels good enough to work. “I tell my wife every day that the pain I have today is the same at home as it is at work,” Leeser said.
