Las Cruces man riding bicycle hit by animal control unit

David Bader, a Las Cruces resident, was hit by an animal control vehicle Saturday morning.

According to Las Cruces Police Department, the 48-year-old was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Holman Road and Village Drive in far east Las Cruces.

Bader was on his way to pay his rent when the incident happened around 10 that morning. He was minutes away from his landlord, a close friend told investigators.

Bader was flown to UMC in El Paso with non-life threatening injuries. The bicyclist was believed to not be wearing a helmet.

The investigation continues. No citations have been issued.
