State troopers identify man killed in wreck near Tornillo

The Department of Public Safety identified the man killed in a crash just of east of Tornillo as Michael Darren, 53, of Nogales, Arizona.

The crash happened on the eastbound lanes of I-10 near mile marker 61 at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

Investigators said Darren has heading east in a 1989 Ford pickup when he was rear-ended by a semi truck driven by 51-year-old Roberto Martinez of Palm Beach, Florida.

The impact caused Darren to wreck after he lost control of his pickup, investigators said. Darren was found dead at the scene.

Martinez was treated and released at the scene. No word on any charges.
