Mayfield WR shuns Oklahoma, verbally commits to NMSU

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Mayfield High School wide receiver Gaven Swinson has verbally committed to play football at New Mexico State in 2017.

According to NMpreps.com, Swinson was also being recruited by Oklahoma, New Mexico, and UTEP.

The 6’4″ receiver has one more year of high school football left before joining the college ranks.

In his most recent season, Swinson racked up 11 touchdowns and more than 1,200 receiving yards, according to NMpreps.com.

Swinson joins O ate senior linebacker Matt Young as the only two Las Cruces recruits to join NMSU’s class of 2017 so far.
