El Paso 100 degree streak is a record breaker

El Paso soared to 103 on Sunday, marking the 15th consecutive day with a high of 100 degrees or warmer.

The forecast high for Monday is 98, and the streak should now be over.

The 15-day streak, that started on July 3rd, is the third longest 100 degree streak in El Paso’s history. Weather records date back to 1879 in El Paso.

The summer of 1994 holds the record, with a streak of 23 consecutive 100 degree days. In second, the summer of 1980, with a streak of 21 days in a row of 100 degree heat.

During the 15 days of 100 degree heat, El Paso only hit one record high. It was recorded on July 5th, when the temperature hit 105.

El Paso also tied its highest temperature of 2016 so far, 108, on July 14th. A high of 108 was also measured on June 18th of this year.
