El Pasoans to make pilgrimage to Poland

A group from the El Paso Diocese will be traveling to Krakw, Poland at the end of this month.

The group is going to be part of a massive celebration.

On Tuesday evening Father Fabien Marquez along with Bishop Mark Seitz held a send-off Mass for the group.

More than 100 youths, young adults and adults from the El Paso Diocese will be traveling to Poland and will taking part in the World Youth Celebration.

The El Paso delegation is going to take part in events geared toward youths, music/art festivals and sightseeing while in Krakow.

The group will be accompanied by Bishop Seitz for the 10-day event.

Over 2 million are expected at the celebration.

Pope Francis will preside over the event and will hold a Mass on the last day.

“It shows young people who feel they are in a minority (that) they are
really not a minority, that there (are)a lot of people …who believe just as
they do and it’s an amazing experience to see the universality of the
faith,” Seitz said.

The group will leave for Poland on Saturday and return in the first week of August.
