Water outage planned in Las Cruces Thursday

A water outage for maintenance and repairs is planned in a portion of Las Cruces on Thursday.

The outage will affect residents and businesses along El Paseo Road, from Boutz Road to Lee Whisman Street. The outage will last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Las Cruces High School and First Christian Church will also be affected.

When service is restored, residents will notice discolored water from iron and manganese. The water is safe to drink, but city officials recommend that residents do not wash their clothes with the discolored water.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours, but if it doesn’t, residents are advised to flush in and around their homes for five minutes. If it does not go away, call the city at 575-526-0500 for more information.
