Pokemon Go players meet up at Young Park in Las Cruces

Hundreds met up to play Pokemon Go at Young Park in Las Cruces Wednesday.

According to the event’s Facebook page, the gathering is from 3 p.m to 6:30 p.m.

The Dona Ana County District Attorney’s Office is warning children and adults to be careful when using the app.

According to a DA spokesman, a Pokemon Gym, a place where app users can go to “train”, is located at smoke shop on Idaho Avenue. The building sits next to four registered sex offenders.

Las Cruces Police is also warning everyone to be careful when using the game. LCPD Spokesman Dan Trujillo says gamers should use the same judgement as they would trick-or-treating. He suggests not letting small children play by themselves and to also be conscious of what time of day you are playing.

Trujillo also warns users to not play while driving, look both ways before crossing the street and be conscious not to enter private property.
