UPDATE: I-10 will NOT close today

At approximately 5:15 AM Sunday, TxDOT announced on Twitter, that today’s closure of I-10 westbound has been cancelled.

“It will be necessary to reschedule complete I-10 closure/ officers unable to assist / For safety reason we will cancel today’s closure”, tweeted TxDOT El Paso. (@TxDOTELP)

Originally, the westbound lanes of I-10 were to be closed from the Sunland Park exit to the Sunland overpass for 26 hours; early Sunday morning, until predawn Monday.

ABC-7 spoke to a TxDOT official who said they are unaware why the closure was postponed.

GO 10 posted to Facebook that they plan to reschedule the closure for next week.
