Holcombe trial reaches verdict
evening everyone. i’m estela cas. and i’m bob harp in for rick cabrera tonight. let’s get right to our breaking news coverage out of the trial for this man, carlos holcombe. he was accused of kidnapping a 12- year-old girl at gunpoint then raping her. the jury just convicted him late this afternoon on five charges. one count of aggravated kidnapping. three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. and one count of indecency with a child. abc-7’s evan folan is live from the downtown courthouse with the breaking details — evan … it took nearly two hours of deliberation for the jury to find holcombe guilty of all 5 charges. all day holcombe sat stiffly next to his attorneys and even more so during a powerful closing argument from the prosecution – which reemphased key moments during the victims testimony back on wednesday. the now 14 year old didnt know if she would ever see her family again. the evidence from the crime was shown to the jury including the gun used to force the victim in the car and the duct tape used to tape up the victim during the sexual assault. the prosecution pleading with the jury to end the victims nightmare by finding holcombe guilty the defense – saying little more than a thank you and a good luck during their closing arguments before sending the jury away to decide the fate of their client. which would be guilty on all 5 charges! holcombe now facing 5-99 years for the aggravated kidnapping and 5-99 years for each of the three aggravated sexual assault of a child charges. and an additional 2 to 20 years for the indecency with a child charge. the trial is in recess until tomorrow – when it is scheduled to resume at 8:30. live from the county courthouse edf abc7 another trial is now underway for a young man accused of killing his 15-
