Unveiling of the Welcome Home El Paso Vietnam banners

plaza. today el paso city rep emma acosta and the el paso vietnam veterans committee unveiled the banners. they are part of several events to honor veterans who didn’t get the recognition they deserved decades ago. the banners will be displayed in downtown el paso and airway boulevard. “i think the banner is a clea indication that the people of el paso recognize the fact that even though the war was clearly unpopular, we nevertheless answered the nation’s call, we went over there and we did our jobs.” the celebration also kicked off eight events planned for the veterans throughout the month of august. those include a family carnival, a parade, and a recognition dinner. for thousands of borderland
