OKC Dodgers sweep Chihuahuas as Dogs fall 8-1 Monday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Trevor Oaks pitched a complete game for Oklahoma City in the Dodgers’ 8-1 victory over the El Paso ChihuahuasMondaynight at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Oaks struck out 11 and did not walk anyone. El Paso’s lone run came on Hunter Renfroe’s RBI single in the top of the ninth inning.

Oaks carried a no-hitter into the seventh, when Renfroe drove a one-out double over the left fielder to break up the no-hit bid. It was the longest El Paso went without a hit sinceJuly 21, 2015 when Tim Federowicz led off the eighth inning with a single in Sacramento for the Chihuahuas’ first hit that night.

The Dodgers won all four games of the series and put El Paso on the losing end of a four-game sweep for the first time this season. Manuel Margot went 0-for-4, snapping his eight-game hitting streak. The Chihuahuas, who lead all of Triple-A baseball in runs scored, were held to only nine runs in the four-games.

The Chihuahuas had excellent relief workMonday, with Eric Yardley, Buddy Baumann and Jason Jester tossing scoreless outings coming in from the bullpen.
