Suspect in West El Paso murder extradited from Arizona to El Paso
Authorities in Tucson, Ariz., extradited 18-year-old Marcelo Mailland to El Paso on Tuesday night.
Mailland, charged with capital murder, has been booked in the El Paso County Jail on a $2 million bond.
He and 17-year-old Marco Antonio Nava are charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Christian Jorjorian in West El Paso.
Police said Nava was arrested in E Paso and jailed on a $2 million bond.
Mailland had been arrested in Tucson and jailed in Pima County where he was held under a $1 million bond.
Police in El Paso said the suspects set up a “narcotics transaction” with the victim and their alleged intentions where to steal the victim’s drugs.
It happened before 8 p.m. Aug. 15 on the 1000 block of Calle Parque Drive, not far from Franklin High School.
A complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7 states Nava had been texting Jorjorian minutes before the killing. Nava allegedly admitted to detectives the intention was to rob Jorjorian of his drugs.
The complaint affidavit also states Nava told detectives Mailland shot Jorjorian when the armed robbery did not go as planned.
The night of the killing, James Rey told ABC-7 he thought it was a drive-by shooting. He said he was surprised by shooting, calling the neighborhood he lives in “quiet” and even “reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting.
