South Texas man pleads guilty to killing wife, gets 45 years
A South Texas man must serve 45 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his wife whose body was found on the porch of their home.
Oscar Garcia of Robstown pleaded guilty Thursday to murder, in a plea deal, and was sentenced by a judge in Corpus Christi.
The body of 41-year-old Lorraine Garcia was discovered last September by a relative. Her 46-year-old husband was arrested the following day in Kingsville on a murder warrant.
An arrest affidavit says Garcia in 2007 was charged with assault by threatening his wife with a knife.
Records show the woman secured an emergency protective order against her husband, but later withdrew the request. Garcia pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury and received probation, which was later revoked.
