Missing Fort Bliss soldier feared dead after tubing accident at Elephant Butte

A missing Fort Bliss soldier is feared dead after tubing accident at Elephant Butte.

Spc. Travis J. Powell, 26, was assigned to the 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command.

Powell was tubing Saturday afternoon when he flipped but never resurfaced, Fort Bliss officials said in a news release. Local law enforcement and dive teams have been searching for Powell, who is presumed dead, the news release said.

Powell is from Farmersville, Texas.
