4th person arrested in murder of man found in trunk of burning car
A fourth person has been arrested in connection to the murder of Johnny Ramirez, whose body was found in the trunk of a burning car.
New Mexico State Police agents arrested 23-year-old Greg P. Saavedra Jr., from Las Cruces Tuesday, said a spokesperson for the agency.
Saavedra has been charged with an open account of murder and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
Last week, 22-year-old Alejandro Ruiz, of Las Cruces, was arrested and charged with an open count of murder.
A few days before that, state police arrested 18-year-old Damika Childs and 24-year-old Adrian Banda, both of Las Cruces. Childs and Banda were both arrested on several charges, including an open count of murder.
On September 22, 2016, state police responded to the Doña Ana Mountains regarding a reported aggravated battery and a vehicle fire.
Investigators learned a woman, with a stab wound to her neck, escaped from a burning vehicle.
The woman was airlifted to a hospital in El Paso, Texas.
While investigating the vehicle fire, investigators found the body of a man in the trunk of the vehicle. The body has since been identified as Johnny Ramirez, 20, of Las Cruces.
New Mexico State Police is still investigating and pursuing leads for this case.
