Detectives with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office believe they have identified the skeletal remains found Monday.
The remains were taken to the University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner in Albuquerque.
Next of kin has yet to be located or notified and the medical examiners said it could take up to 90 days for positive identification.
The remains were found by two landscape workers clearing weeds in the 4500 block of Picacho near Fairacres Road Monday morning just before noon.
The body appeared to have been wrapped in a blue tarp and heavy plastic sheeting.
Detectives described the remains as “severely decomposed” and suspected the remains had been dumped there.
