A family is furious after their dogs disappear from kennel

A family is heartbroken and furious after they say they left their dogs at a local kennel and came back to find their dogs were missing.

“They were like our children, literally embedded, they were our family and we were so eager to get them back into our house,” said dog owner Angela Trujillo.

Trujillo is talking about her dogs Ramsies and Rosie.

The family left them at the A&L boarding kennel for a few days, while they went on vacation.

“I kept asking the girl where’s my dogs, you charged me already where’s my dogs?,” said Angela’s husband Carlos Trujillo.

Carols had gone to pick the dogs up Monday morning.

He tells ABC-7 he was heartbroken when they told him the dogs had disappeared.

“I had to respond for my son and my wife and my daughter because that’s part of me. I lost my dogs and they couldn’t give me any answers,” Carlos Trujillo said.

“They were there when they got fed at 7:30 a.m., a couple minutes before 8:00 a.m. they were still in their crates,” said Connie McCarthy.

McCarthy is co-owner of the A&L boarding kennel.

She tells ABC-7 it’s hard to believe the dogs had escaped.

“There is no physical way they could have gotten out,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy pointed out where the dogs were staying. In the video you can see there are a few fences to get through, including a large fence with barbed wire, and an outer fence that is locked at closing time.

Tubes were also added in between gaps to prevent small dogs from getting out.

Shortly after, Carlos and his son went looking for the dogs along Montana Street, when they saw something on the roadside.

“And my son got out of the truck and he noticed it was him,” Carlos Trujillo said.

They found their dog Ramsies dead and decapitated.

“I understand how they would feel because I have pets and I would be devastated too,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy says her kennel has cared for tens of thousands of dogs and she’s had many returning clients.

“We have a lot of loyal customers that come every holiday,” McCarthy said.

As for the Trujillo family, they didn’t appreciate how the situation was handled.

“Somebody say at least I’m sorry, not say ‘oh well we’re talking to our lawyers’,” Angela Trujillo said.

A&L kennel owners do not have surveillance cameras but they said after this incident, they will be getting some.

The owners have filed a report with the sheriffs office and continue looking for their dog Rosie.
