Another inmate walks away from local federal prison
U.S. Marshals are looking for an inmate who walked away from La Tuna early Sunday morning. This is just over two weeks after two other inmates walked away from the same prison. It’s unclear if the previous two were found.
Michael Alan Castro was discovered missing from the minimum security federal prison camp around 12:45 a.m. Officials did not initially provide a photo of Castro.
Castro was serving a 30 month sentence for “Conspiracy to Possess With Intent to Distribute 100 Kilograms of Marijuana.” He’s described as a 34 year-old Hispanic male, standing 5’9″, weighing 201 pounds.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the inmate is urged to call the U.S. Marshals Service at (915) 534-6779.
Marshals were previously looking for two other inmates that walked away from La Tuna on Sept. 30. Christian H. Lara, 34, was discovered missing at 12:15 a.m that day. 35-year-old Gustavo Eraclio Corral was discovered missing at about 9:50 a.m the same day.
Lara was serving a 10 year prison sentence for “Conspiracy to Distribute” and “Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Marijuana.” He is described as an Hispanic male, 5’10” tall, weighing 213 pounds.
Corral was sentenced to 15-and-a-half years in prison for “Conspiracy to Import A Controlled Substance.”
La Tuna is located at 8500 Doniphan Road in Anthony, Texas. It houses approximately 234 minimum security offenders, federal officials said.
