LC man accused of slamming girlfriend into the floor head first

Police arrested a man suspected of injuring his girlfriend during a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon.

Charles “Chucky” Jackson, 39, is charged with one count of Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm, a third-degree felony count.

Investigators learned Jackson became angry with his 23-year-old girlfriend after she looked through his cell phone.

Jackson allegedly threw a bottle of water at the woman before slamming her to the floor head first, police said.

The woman lost consciousness but eventually recovered and called for help, police said.

She was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Later Thursday evening, police officers found Jackson hiding in the backyard of a residence on the 1400 block of Nevada Avenue.

Jackson was found to have four outstanding warrants for his arrest.

He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
