The story of the Garcia family’s adoption
Every child needs a loving family. Many are not in good conditions and need to be taken into the system by Child Protective services.
Saturday more than a dozen El Paso families welcomed children into their home, one fo those were the Garcias.
The Garcias have been waiting months for today, the large and loving family wanting only to love even more children.
A chance few get
Two parents, six kids, but now things have changed: with Cenaida it will be seven children in the family.
“It’s a process, you know, the home studies, a lot of paperwork and everything. It takes a lot of patience, a lot of work, but it was worth it,” said Raul Garcia, the father.
It’s a struggle the family is grateful for.
“Changing diapers again, getting used to her, but she’s been a blessing,” her dad said.
They’ve had Cenaida for about nine months now, their bond only growing.
“When we first got her she was real quiet, but now she’s very happy and can have a strong attitude,” dad said.
Three brothers and three sisters are excited to welcome her.
“We get to go shopping with her when she’s older,” one of them screamed.
Her parents tearing up as they think of family traditions and events, their first holiday together less than a week away.
“Family trips, and I believe Thanksgiving will be one of the most important things,” said Edna Garcia, her mother.
The entire family was waiting anxiously outside a courtroom, waiting for their hearing to be called and their future decided.
Tears started to flow. Her soon-to-be parents holding her as she clutched her little panda, and just after the judge asked her finals questions:
“Well girls are you excited about your little sister?” she asked.
“Yes!” her sisters answered.
“And you boys?”
“Yes ma’am” the brothers said.
“The court further finds that it is in the best interest of the child that the adoption be granted, and it’s hereby granted, so congratulations!” the judge declared.
“It’s a relief, she’s finally home, she’s finally ours, she finally belongs t5o the family and that just takes a whole weight off our shoulders,” her mother said.
Cenaida, now Grace-Lynn was running and playing with her loving family
She’s already calling her parents mommy and daddy.
“I want to thanks CPS, the Judge, our attorney John Williams, and everybody that helped us get to this point. We really appreciate it, it means a lot to us,” her father said.
