Stanford prepares to face UNC in 83rd Hyundai Sun Bowl

The 83rd Annual Hyundai Sun Bowl will feature a great matchup between two solid schools in the 18th ranked Stanford Cardinal and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Both teams feature star players, such as UNC Quarterback Mitch Trubisky who is a top NFL prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft (28 touchdowns to 4 interceptions). While Stanford is home to star running back Christian Mccaffrey, who decided not to play in this game to prepare for the NFL Draft instead.

But UNC Head Coach Larry Fedora said in able to win this game, it’ll rely on the defense to help get the final win of the year.

“You got to make the play, and we’ve done that well at times this year and there are times when we haven’t,” Fedora said. “The inconsistency of that really is the main event of us as we talk to our players. Put yourself in position to make the play, and then you have to make it.”

While Stanford seems confident coming into the matchup due to similar offenses they have faced in prior games.

“I think UNC is similar to some of the spread offenses we have seen in general,” Stanford defensive coordinator Lance Anderson said. “I think those things will carry over and help us in terms of preparation.”

Kickoff is at high noon, and ABC 7 will have complete coverage of the game starting at 4 p.m.
