UTEP beats UAB at the Haskins Center for fifth win in last six games

The UTEP men’s basketball team continued its remarkable turnaround Thursday night at the Haskins Center, beating UAB by a final of 63-59.

The Miners have now won five of their last six after posting a 12-game losing streak earlier in the season.

UTEP trailed by nine at the half but managed to outscore the Blazers by 13 in the second half.

Omega Harris scored 23 points and played one of the better games of his UTEP career, according to Coach Tim Floyd.

The Miners used a shortened rotation with only seven players entering the game. Only five of those seven attempted a field goal.

Dominic Artis scored 11 while adding eight boards and five assists. Matt Willms also continued his solid play with 14 points and eight rebounds of his own.

UTEP will next play Middle Tennessee at home Saturday night.

Coach Floyd called MTSU a “top-15 team in the country” in his postgame comments. Middle Tennessee now has a three-game lead over UAB atop the C-USA standings after UTEP’s win over the Blazers.
