Las Cruces police identify motorcyclist killed in crash

Las Cruces police identified a 20-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a crash as Daniel “Danny” E. Hamilton.

Hamilton slammed into a tractor-trailer about 1 p.m. Friday on Mesa Grande Drive near the intersection of Calle Pastura in the city’s East Mesa, police said.

Hamilton was rushed to Mountainview Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believed Hamilton was speeding when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the side of the panel truck a block away.

Hamilton was wearing a helmet. The investigation into the crash continues.
