‘Estela’s Escuelas’ segment wins state award

ABC-7’S commitment to highlighting positive news in our schools earns a state award!

Our “Estela’s Esquelas” segment has earned the Texas State Teachers Association “School Bell” award for Outstanding TV Program Series for the second year in a row.

A Texas television station is chosen every year for its outstanding continuous coverage of education issues. The awards are presented annually by the TSTA and are based on nominations.

And our own Estela Casas was recognized for all that she does for public schools in our region.

Congratulations, Estela!

Two other journalists from El Paso were also awarded.

Robert Moore, the editor of the El Paso Times, was awarded for Outstanding Editorial.

Lindsey Anderson, a reporter for the El Paso Times, was awarded for Outstanding Continuous Coverage.

El Paso journalists won three of the 10 School Bell Awards.
