EPCSO: Man arrested for death of baby
A man from the far eastside of El Paso county is charged with Capital Murder after the death of a baby girl.
Deputies say the incident began Monday when a female infant from the 13,000 block of Allemande Road was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Allemande Road is on the far eastside of the county near the Montana Vista power plant.
On Tuesday, deputies arrested 36-year-old Jose Angel Varela in connection with the girl’s death. Varela is being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $2 million dollar bond.
No other details were provided by the sheriff’s department. The ABC-7 I-team looked up Varela’s records overnight, and could not find any prior criminal convictions.
