Carlsbad man dies after his motorcycle hits an ambulance

ARTESIA, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico State Police say a Carlsbad man is dead after his motorcycle collided with an ambulance in Artesia while he was fleeing authorities.

They say the fatal accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a motorcycle driven by 38-year-old David Moore was fleeing from Artesia police at a high rate of speed when he collided with the back of an ambulance at an intersection.

The ambulance that was responding to a call for service.

Police say Moore was spotted by an Eddy County Sheriff’s deputy traveling in excess of 100 mph on U.S. 285 earlier Saturday and fled from an attempted traffic stop.

Moore was transported to Artesia General Hospital, where police say he died from his injuries.
