Gang Unit arrests suspect blamed for fight involving two groups on Dyer St.

Gang Unit police officers who broke up a fight between two groups of people on the 4700 block of Dyer arrested and charged a man who allegedly pulled out a handgun.

El Paso County Constables were driving by the 4700 block of Dyer shortly after 2 pm when they noticed two groups engaged in a fight and one of the individuals with a handgun.

Constables were able to separate and hold the individuals involved.

Gang Unit officers arrived and an investigation revealed 22-year-old Jessy Alvarado allegedly began the altercation. Alvarado pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the group of men, police said.

He then allegedly tried to hide the handgun (9 mm) inside a nearby business.

Alvarado was charged with two counts of “Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon,” “Tampering with Identification Numbers,” and “Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.”

He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Bonds totaling $105,000.00.

Police said the business was not involved in the criminal conduct.
