BREAKING: Myrtle Cooper Elementary employee on leave due to alleged inappropriate conduct

An employee at Myrtle Cooper Elementary was placed on leave pending an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct, Socorro ISD Spokesman Daniel Escobar confirms.

ABC-7 obtained the transcript of a message sent to parents by Leticia Terraza, the school’s principal.

“I am calling to inform you that we received a report of alleged inappropriate conduct by an employee at Myrtle Cooper Elementary. The Socorro Independent School District takes every allegation very seriously and immediately initiated an investigation,” Terraza said, “The safety and security of our students is our number one priority!”

The principal’s message further states, “The individual named in the allegation was promptly placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of our investigation. We have diligently reported the allegation to all appropriate authorities. Due to confidentiality laws, this is all the information we are able to share at this time.”

Terraza said the district will take “all necessary action to ensure the continued safety and security of our children.”

The school is located at 1515 Rebecca Ann Drive in Far East El Paso.

The district would not confirm if the employee is a teacher, coach, administrator or custodian.
