Man accused of stabbing girlfriend twice over stolen pot

Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing his girlfriend twice after she used a knife on him during a heated argument.

21-year-old Jesus Moreno Jr. is charged with one count of “Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member.”

Sunday, March 26, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the report of a double-stabbing at 1024 W. Picacho Ave.

Officers allegedly found Moreno with a single stab wound to a leg and his 18-year-old girlfriend suffering from two stab wounds to her right leg.

Investigators learned the couple got into an argument after Moreno accused his girlfriend of stealing a marijuana cigarette, otherwise known as a blunt.

Investigators learned the two argued for a while until Moreno allegedly grabbed the woman from behind in an effort to strangle her.

The woman told police she felt like she was about to pass out, grabbed a folding knife she carries and stabbed Moreno once.

As the woman tried to crawl away, Moreno allegedly grabbed another knife and stabbed her twice.

Moreno was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s initially being held without bond.
