Man guilty of Capital Murder for 2012 killing of 2-year-old boy
The El Paso man accused of killing a 2-year-old boy has been found guilty of Capital Murder.
Ever Mendez killed Isaiah Villanueva in May 2012. An autopsy report revealed the boy died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
Isaiah’s mother, Dora Villanueva, testified during the trial. The woman told the jury she never saw Mendez hit any of her children, but did see him spank her oldest child.
The mother further stated she believed Mendez was not capable of hurting the children.
During cross examination, Dora Villanueva said Mendez told her he wasn’t ready to take care of her and her children.
The El Paso Times reports Mendez received an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
