The Las Cruces Garth Brooks experience told by the fans

Tens of thousands of people filled the streets headed to see country legend Garth Brooks.

The lines sprawled throughout the New Mexico State University campus but before getting there people had to deal with road closures and some didn’t like the detours.

“It’s a crock of crap having to go around for everybody,” said one visibly upset driver.

ABC-7 cameras even caught some drivers getting a disciplined by police.

Others thought the traffic and parking was handled well.

“They did a really good job of heading us in the right direction and getting us in and out quick,” Nora Madrid said.

The sea of Garth Brooks fans also showed off their cowboy best with boots boots and more cowboy boots.

“These were my dads boots,” said one ticket holder.

The fans leaving the early show described the scene inside

“He had a bunch of lights, different colors,” added Nicolas Frederico.

So did the Garth Brooks show hold up to the hype?

“He was so good he came out fresh,” Estrada said.

“It was amazing, epic … it was so amazing,” Madrid shouted.

There will be two shows on Sunday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

University Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Solano Street to Las Alturas Street from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
