2017’s KLAQ El Paso BalloonFest canceled
This year’s KLAQ El Paso BalloonFest has been canceled.
Organizers said they’re looking forward from last year’s problems.
They faced issues like thorns in the launch field and a crowd that was larger than expected.
“We had about 4500 people inside, the facilities were pretty much full and we couldn’t let anymore people in,” said KLAQ’s general manager Brad Dubow last year.
Festival goers in 2016 said they were stuck in traffic for hours only to be turned away when they arrived.
The event was supposed to take place this coming Memorial Day weekend and has been postponed until 2018.
Dubow posted on Facebook Thursday they are only pausing this year’s festival and gathering input from pilots.
Dubow also said the idea is to get it right and bring it back when it makes sense.
