Jury sentences man convicted of killing wife to 80 years in prison
The same jury that found Greg Dudley guilty of murdering his wife sentenced Dudley to 80 years in prison.
Dudley, who showed no emotion when the guilty verdict was announced Wednesday, was facing up to 99 years or life in prison for the killing 38-year-old Deanna Stewart back in April 2015.
Dudley killed Stewart inside their home on Jerry Lewis Street in East El Paso. Stewart’s body was discovered by her daughter, Adriana Medina.
In court Wednesday, Medina told ABC-7, “I can’t really sleep some nights. I just always go back to what I saw.”
Court records obtained by ABC-7 state the couple had a history of domestic violence.
During closing arguments in the sentencing phase, prosecutor James Montoya told the jury, “You get to decide: What is the value of Ms. Stewart’s life? People are watching. What message do you want to send about this conduct?”
Montoya further stated, “The crime demands a sentence that reflects the severity of what he did.”
