EPPD: Faulty brake lights lead to fugitive’s arrest, teen with cocaine

A 21-year-old man wanted by the El Paso County’s Sheriff’s Office was arrested after he was pulled over for not having working brake lights, said officials with the El Paso Police Department Monday.

Police said Gang Suppression officers stopped a car without working brake lights early Saturday around midnight at 9100 Dyer. That’s when officers allegedly found Arthur Rodriguez and an underage girl in the car in possession of cocaine.

Police said further investigation found that Rodriguez had given the officer a false name, and had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon issued by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Rodriguez was booked on the Failure to Identify and the Probation Violation Aggravated Assault warrant.

The Possession of Controlled Substance case on the girl was turned over to Juvenile Probation Department (JPD).
