UTEP to give more than $2.3 million in scholarships to hundreds of high school students

The University of Texas at El Paso is surprising 236 high school seniors at over 40 local schools. The scholarships are made available through UTEP’s Scholars Excellence Program.

The university said recipients are selected based on their SAT test scores, grade point average and student ranking and leadership skills. The scholarships will be available to help students pay for the start of the upcoming fall semester.

A total of 560 students have been awarded more than $7 million in scholarship funds for the upcoming freshman class.
