Chihuahua State Police Officer arrested in Vado, allegedly in possession of marijuana
The Chihuahua state police officer arrested Friday in Vado was allegedly in possession of marijuana.
Octavio Rios-Rodriguez, 33, of Juarez, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was jailed without bond into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
The suspect is in custody of US Marshals, jail records show.
XHIJ, ABC-7’s news partner in Juarez, reports Rios-Rodriguez is a ministerial police officer in a department that focuses on crimes against women.
Jorge Arnaldo Nava López, a state police official, told XHIJ Rios-Rodriguez had been with the department five years.
XHIJ reports Rios-Rodriguez was allegedly in possession of more than 130 pounds of pot.
ABC-7 is working to learn more about the investigation that led to the arrest.
