A Sears employee is suspected of stealing nearly $1,200 worth of merchandise from her employer, Las Cruces Police said.

Adrianna Perez, 24, is charged with a fourth-degree felony count of shoplifting.

Police said Perez was observed on surveillance cameras hiding several bags of merchandise under a cash register counter.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police Perez removed the bags from the store and placed them in the trunk of her car.

Authorities say the bags contained $1,191.98 worth of clothing.

Perez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center June 15, 2017.

She was released the following day on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
