Hanks High School coach arrested and charged with DWI
Law enforcement officers arrested a head baseball coach at Hanks High School and charged him with DWI.
Omar Javier Garcia was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content of .15, nearly twice the legal limit.
Garcia was arrested June 25, 2017. Jail records show he has posted bond.
ABC-7 reached out to the Ysleta Independent School District, which confirmed Garcia’s employment but stopped short of acknowledging the arrest.
“Omar Garcia is a social studies teacher and head baseball coach at Hanks High School. He has been employed with the district since November 2013. YISD cannot provide further comment on personnel issues,” the district said.
