Isiah Osborne ready to suit up for UTEP after sitting out last season
For Canadian Isiah Osborne it is a dream come true.
A chance to play Division 1 basketball in the U.S.
The 6’5 sophomore guard is from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
He was the second leading scorer for the University of Windsor and was also named the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) Rookie of the Year.
Osborne joined the Miners last season, but because of NCAA transfer rules, he had to sit out, “I’ve always been playing my whole life. I’ve never sat out before. Going to the games, seeing the guys struggling for a bid, it just sucked that I couldn’t help them,” Osborne said.
During his time at Windsor University, Osborne averaged 15 points a game, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Osborne says his strengths include his shooting ability and his abililty to attack the paint.
As to why he chose to come to UTEP, Osborne said, “Coach Floyd really convinced me when I talked to him. I was thinking about staying in Windsor, it’s close to my home, but it’s always been the dream to come to a Division 1 school and a great one like this, the only national championship in Texas.”
