Hiker rescued after experiencing medical issues on mountain

Combined Search and Rescue crews rescued a woman experiencing medical issues while hiking at the Franklin Mountains, Sunday evening.

El Paso Fire Department officials say the 29-year-old woman was with another hiker when the incident happened. The fellow hiker called 911 to report the emergency.

Crews arrived on scene shortly after 3 p.m. along Jon Cunningham Boulevard and Officer Andrew Barcena Dr. and was able to reach the hiker within an hour using an all-terrain vehicle.

The woman was treated on the mountain before being driven down the trail.

The patient refused transport to the hospital.

A total of four units and nine personnel from the El Paso Fire Department, El Paso Police and Texas Parks and Wildlife responded to the incident.
