El Paso Fire Department officials say a 69-year-old man fell 30 feet from Red Rock Canyon in the Franklin Mountains shortly after 9 A.M. Sunday morning.
The hiker, who has not been identified, sustained serious injuries. Officials say the man’s fellow hikers called 911 to help rescue him.
The Combined Search and Rescue team spotted the man, but due to his injuries, crews requested a helicopter evacuation. A U.S Army helicopter assisted members in rescuing the man.
Crews began treating the man on scene and shortly before 11 A.M the helicopter arrived and transported the man to a local hospital.
