Fireworks light up the sky for hours
Hundreds of people headed to Montana Vista to celebrate the Fourth of July.

For the second year in a row fireworks were allowed in in the unincorporated areas of EL Paso County.
Fireworks had been banned for a few years because of drought conditions.

“It’s pretty fun. We like to come out with a few friends and everything and have a good time setting off some fireworks and enjoy the fourth of July, ” said one man enjoying the fireworks.
“How could you not want to be a part of this show. Every year it never fails,” said another man. “There is a lot of energy out here and a lot of cool things to see. And it’s just part of El Paso tradition I think.”
It was especially exciting for those attending for first time.
“It’s definitely new. We’ve never been out here before. So it’s really fun to be out here and see so many things going on and to be able to experience El Paso in this type of setting,” a first-time spectator said.
“It’s kind of scary at first, but once you get used to it is so beautiful,” said another.
There were 30 El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies and 20 state troopers in the Montana Vista area. They were there for safety and to crack down on drinking and driving.
