Singer represents El Paso in national competition

A Christian singer-songwriter is representing El Paso in the “Sing Your Praise” competition.

Joseph Hobdy, a songwriter and worship leader, is participating in the competition put on by national Christian radio, and is similar to “American Idol” or “The Voice.”

Hobdy will be competing against worship singers form cross the county, and it is completely voter based. This meaning that in order for participants to move up in rounds they must get voted to do so by listeners.

The winner of the competition will receive radio exposure, cash prizes, and the chance to record a song with Christian and Latin Pop singer, Jaci Velasquez.

Hodby says he is excited to not only represent his city of El Paso in this competition but also be able to spread the word of God to his peers across the country.

“My ultimate goal is to let people know about God, and really shine his light and be an encouragement and a blessing to people” he said.

Hobdy hopes this will be his big break in brining a Christian music star to El Paso and to be able to help out his own ministry.
