UPDATE: 62-year-old man hit and killed in East El Paso
El Paso Police say the pedestrian killed overnight Saturday was a 62-year-old man.
Police say the crash happened shortly after 1 A.M. near Vista Del Sol Drive and Zaragosa Road.
Police say the man was crossing Zaragosa and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a car driven by a 32-year-old man. Police say the driver fled the scene but later walked into the Pebble Hills Regional Command to report the crash. The pedestrian was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he died.
Special Traffic Investigators are investigating the crash. The driver has been charged with one count of accident involving death and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
The identities of the driver and the pedestrian are being withheld until next-of-kin notification is confirmed and there is no compromise in the investigation.
